Rowe finished 20 seconds ahead of his nearest rival |
Experienced triathlete Alan Rowe won the first event in the Guernsey Triathlon Club's duathlon series at Pleinmont on Sunday. Rowe said it was one of the most competitive he had raced locally. He finished the two mile run, 12 mile cycle and a second two mile run in 54 minutes and 38 seconds. Luke Walton was second only 20 seconds behind with Ian Scholes and Richard Stapley close behind in third and fourth place respectively. Rowe's experience saw him first out of the transition on his bike, but as he began the final run Walton, Stapley and Scholes were level with him. Rowe finally took control of the race one kilometre into the run. Katrina Bowie continued her excellent form from last year and was the first woman home and ninth overall in a time of one hour and 55 seconds. The next race is scheduled for 14 February at Les Amarreurs.
