Organisers are hoping to attract more runners for the 2010 Guernsey Marathon.

Registration is open for entries from around the world after American Kent Guernsey, became the first person to sign up for the event.

The course, accredited by UK Athletics, will be the same as this year starting and finishing at Footes Lane.

Race director Peter Head said: "Having had such great feedback from this year's event we are really excited about 2010.

Head added: "We hope to have many more people running both the full marathon and forming teams of five for the relay event."

More than a 1,000 runners, including 83 from outside the island, took part in this year's event raising more than £7,000 for charity.

The marathon is due to be held on 29 August and anyone signing up before the end of January will pay a reduced fee.
