Dorien was first out of the more than 250 entrants |
Matthew Dorien was the first runner across the line in Guernsey's annual Fathers Day half marathon on Sunday. Dorien finished the 13.1 mile course along Guernsey's West Coast in one hour 17 minutes and 39 seconds. Race organiser Paul Ingrouille said: "He led pretty much from the first mile onwards and steadily drew away from the chasing pack. "The top five runners were all Guernsey and in the end Matt won by about two minutes so it's quite a good victory." More than 250 runners took part in the event in hot conditions which saw two runners being treated for heat exhaustion. The only wheelchair entrant, Aindre Reece-Sheerin, improved on his own time from last year to complete the course in one hour 26 minutes and five seconds.
