Mr Head said the event had been an outstanding success |
The Guernsey marathon will return in 2010 after the first one held for 17 years was hailed a success. Race director Peter Head floated the idea of a marathon on BBC Guernsey before organising a race involving hundreds of runners in August. He described the decision to organise another one as easy and instant and that doing it again was a "no-brainer". Head said: "It was an outstanding success, not just for those who took part but for the whole community." He added: "So many people were involved in it. We had probably 2-3,000 people lining the course - it was fantastic and quite simply straight after I decided we have to do it again and again so it becomes a regular Guernsey sporting event."
