Watson climbs 21 ranking places

Watson is ranked number three junior in the world

Heather Watson has jumped 21 places in the world rankings as she is named favourite in the Eddie Herr Junior Championships which started on Monday.

The 17-year-old is now ranked 561 on the women's circuit despite being knocked out in round one of the Tevlin Challenger event in Toronto this month.

Watson, the world number three junior, is the top seed for the tournament she reached the finals of last year.

The event is played on her home courts in the town of Bradenton in Florida.

Last year on the IMG Bolletteiri Academy courts Watson finished runner up to American Lauren Embree after a straight-sets defeat.

Watson is also expected to do well in the doubles as she partners Magda Linette from Poland.

This year the pair won the AEGON International Junior Championships doubles final in Roehampton and also reached the final 16 at Junior Wimbledon.
