Guernsey's Heather Watson is into round one of the Tevlin Challenger $50,000 event in Toronto, Canada, despite losing in the last round of qualifying. Watson lost 5-7 6-4 4-6 to American Macall Harkins, but with two entrants for the main draw pulling out, the teenager was given a reprieve. The 17-year-old will now face American Alexandra Stevenson in the first round. In the doubles, Watson and partner Julia Boserup lost to Canadians Gabriela Dobrowski and Rebecca Marino.
