Youngsters from the Guernsey Athletics club in action

Guernsey's young athletes have suffered further disappointment with the cancellation of the Hampshire League race in Reading this weekend.

Last week the Hampshire County Cross Country Championships were also called off due to the bad weather.

The cancellation leaves the Guernsey runners with no opportunity to impress the Hampshire County selectors.

The Guernsey Athletics Club have also been left with thousands of pounds worth of unused flight tickets.

One squad member is hoping to race this weekend though, Katie Rowe is due to run in the UK Cross Challenge Series in Cardiff after finishing second in her last event.
