Cornish 800m runner Jemma Simpson set a new personal best despite finishing fourth at the IAAF Super Grand Prix race in Monaco on Tuesday. Simpson recorded a time of one minute, 59.07 seconds, beating her previous best by one tenth of a second. The race was won by Maggie Vessey from the United States, with Russia's Mariya Savinova second and Britain's Jennifer Meadows third. Simpson's next race will be at the World Championships, Berlin in August. The 25-year-old, who runs for Newquay Par club, is now ranked sixth in the world in the women's 800m.
