Cornwall's Jemma Simpson has achieved the qualifying time needed to run the 800m in the Beijing Olympics. Newquay's 24-year-old British champion lowered her personal best by 0.82 seconds at the Milan Notturna meeting. She returns to the top of the UK rankings for the 800m and her time of 1:59.17 puts her fourth in Europe and seventh in the world this year. Her next event is next week's British Olympic qualifiers in Birmingham where she will defend her national title.
