The Austrian has yet to make any impact on the grass courts of Wimbledon, his best performance coming in 2000 when he reached the second round before losing to France's Jerome Golmard.
Koubek, a left-hander, considers clay his favourite surface and backhand his best shot.
The 25-year-old's best Grand Slam performance to date was a quarter-final spot in this year's Australian Open where he lost in straight sets to Jiri Novak.
His only appearance on grass this season was at the Gerry Weber Open in Germany when he reached the second round before losing to Alexander Popp in straight sets.
