Mark Williams
Williams defends his world title this month
Mark Williams won three consecutive frames to beat Mark King 5-4 and seal a place in the quarter-finals of the Players Championship in Glasgow.

The reigning world champion defends his crown later this month and will be encouraged by this battling display.

Ronnie O'Sullivan beat Scotland's Jamie Burnett 5-0 in 82 minutes to edge closer to winning the Order of Merit.

The only player who can stop is Paul Hunter, who faces O'Sullivan next after beating Steve Davis 5-3.

Hunter needs to win the tournament to collect the 50,000 prize that goes to the Order of Merit winner.

Peter Ebdon beat Scotland's Graeme Dott 5-3 in a match shrouded by controversy.

Dott accused Ebdon of bullying referee Michaela Tabb during the fifth frame, which Ebdon won.

Seven-time world champion Stephen Hendry came from 2-0 down to beat fellow Scot Alan McManus 5-2 to reach the last eight.

Hendry will now play Ireland's Ken Doherty who beat Joe Perry 5-2.
