Great Britain too good for Norway
The GB women's football team claimed a superb 3-1 win over Norway in their first round-robin game at the Deaflympics in Melbourne.

Norway took a first-half lead but two goals in the space of two minutes on 59 and 61 minutes from Greenford's Clare Davies put GB back into the game.

Substitute Sharon Molloy sealed the victory with a goal five minutes from the end.

Russia, who beat Australia 10-0, are GB's next opponents on Saturday.

In the tennis event, Darren O'Donnell claimed a comprehensive straight sets win in his men's singles match.

The 31-year-old from Cheadle Hulme, the first member of the tennis team in action, beat American John Silva 6-1 6-0.

The badminton team of Ron Prout, Janet Thomson, Russell Fowler, Fiona Walker and Carl Sadler put in a good effort to beat Bulgaria 108-90 in their first match.

On the athletics track, sprinter Jessica Everhurst booked her place in the semi-finals of the 100m after finishing third in her heat in 13.71 seconds.

In the ten-pin bowling men's singles, Ray Lay was the leading finisher in 18th followed by Paul Johnson in 22nd and Barry Peace in 27th.

Christopher Barry finished 52nd with Paul Dyer and Tony Starr in 94th and 106th.
