Hole 17 at Royal St George's
428 yards, par four

BBC TV golf commentator

Come Sunday, those in contention will find that the 17th will do them few favours.

There's a tricky little drive on to a hogsback fairway. The bunkers can be easily avoided if a driver or long iron is used.

If the ball is hit down the left then there's more than a strong possibility that it will kick on into the rough and the same goes if the ball lands on the right.

It's best to play a long tee shot because a short iron is needed for the approach to the flag.

The reason? The putting surface is only 25 yards from front to back and accuracy is the key to avoid dropping shots here.
