Hole 16 at Royal St George's
163 yards, par three

Ken Brown
By Ken Brown
BBC TV golf commentator

A relatively simple hole really. In some ways, it's a little out of character with the rest of the course.

There's generous green on offer for what is no more than a short or middle iron, depending on the wind, over a mound to a putting surface which is virtually unsighted.

There's the option of pitching the ball short and running it up.

The green has a big slope from the back to the front located in the back portion.

One of the more simple holes and on the closing stretch it gives the golfer a good chance of making a birdie.
