Of Azinger's four US wildcard picks, only Campbell has Ryder Cup experience - so much will be expected of the Texan.

The NASCAR fan hits precision irons with a quick, make-do swing but, despite the lack of textbook technique for the purists to purr over, Campbell does appear to have the inspirational, rallying qualities needed for an event such as the Ryder Cup.

Featured briefly in the top 10 world rankings in 2004 and only made the PGA Tour midway through 2003 but Campbell now has 20 career wins to his name, four on the PGA Tour itself.

Prior to 2000 he was played on the third-tier NGA Hooters Tour, winning 13 tournaments, before progressing to the second-tier Nationwide Tour. Won the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in 2004 and topped the money list early in the season. Claimed a dramatic one-stroke victory at the Viking Classic in 2007.

Campbell's singles defeat to Luke Donald at The K Club allowed Europe to retain the Ryder Cup in 2006 - Campbell will be out to ensure that does not happen again.
