Perry's victory was his third in five tournaments |
Kenny Perry clinched his third win in five PGA events with victory at the John Deere Classic at Silvis, Illinois. American Perry, went into a three-way play-off with Brad Adamonis and Jay Williamson after bogeying the last. But the 47-year held it together in the play-off to make par, while his rivals both hit their second shots into water. "I felt like I gave it away and they gave it back to me but I produced some key shots and that was a great win for me," said Perry. | I don't why it is happening but things are just going my way |
Perry, who had already decided not to compete at this week's Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, is now emerging as a strong contender for a Ryder Cup place. His previous victories came at the Memorial Tournament and the Buick Open but he will play at the Milwaukee Championship this week instead of travelling to Royal Birkdale for the Open. Perry's victory equals his previous best season - in 2003 when he also picked up three tournament wins. "It's just my time. I don't know why it is happening but things are just going my way," added Perry. Williamson's finish was enough to earn him an invitation to the Open.
