Gerrard, 26, is the PFA player of the year, the heartbeart of Liverpool Football Club and England's vice-captain.
Many feel the midfielder should have been honoured after he hauled the Reds back from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League final.
He repeated the heroics with a late goal against West Ham to win this year's FA Cup for Liverpool.
"Gerrard can be the world's greatest player, he has everything," says his Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.
