Woosnam, universally known as "Woosie", captained Europe to a record-equalling 19.5-8.5 victory over the USA in September's Ryder Cup at the K Club in Ireland.
The diminutive Welshman, 48, played in eight Ryder Cups between 1983-1997 and was on the victorious side four times.
Woosnam won the Masters in 1991, the year he was world number one for 50 weeks.
"I won a major tournament, I've been number one in the world and I've got to say this is the proudest moment of my life," he said after September's triumph.
