New Year Honours
RICKY HATTON, boxer MBE for services to sport
Hatton's defeat of the legendary Kostya Tszyu in June 2005 established him as not only the best light welterweight but one of the finest pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
This year, the 'Hitman' gave up his IBF and WBA light welterweight titles to outpoint Luis Collazo for the WBA welterweight title, becoming king at two weights.
The 28-year-old won bronze at the 1996 world junior championships and turned pro a year later. He has won all 41 of his fights, 30 by knockout.
