1977/78 - Rangers 2-1 Celtic (aet)
Rangers' Smith heads winner in extra-time.
The Ibrox side have won the League Cup on 25 occasions, Celtic 13 times. Few games between the two teams have been as close as the final in season 1977/78.
New signing Davie Cooper, who went on to win an incredible seven League Cups with Rangers, opened the scoring for (top-right) against a Celtic side that included Parkhead favourite Tommy Burns (pictured far left).
Johannes Edvaldsson levelled the tie, forcing the final into extra-time.
Gordon Smith (number 10 in bottom-right photo), in a successful first season since joining from Kilmarnock, headed the winner for Rangers with just a few minutes of the extra-time remaining.
Later that season, Rangers beat Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final to complete another treble for Jock Wallace, having pipped the Dons for the league title.
