Billy Wright missed only three international matches between 1946 and 1959, playing 70 consecutive games for England.

An accomplished and versatile defender, he married pop star Joy Beverley of the Beverley sisters and is widely regarded as football's first superstar.

His final England appearance came against the United States in May 1959, after which Wright retired from football at the age of 35.

The 'Ironbridge Rocket' died, aged 70, in September 1994 and a statue was erected in his memory at Molineux, where a stand is also named after him.
