Nehra has proved something of an enigma since being given his first chance at senior international level while still a teenager.
He was banned from bowling for persistently running down the pitch during a Test match in Zimbabwe in 2001, but still took 11 wickets in two games.
And the following year Nehra dismissed Brian Lara three times as India ran West Indies close in their Test series in the Caribbean.
He is a bowler capable of ripping through an opposition batting line-up, as he showed at the World Cup earlier this year by taking 6-23 against England.
But his search for consistency has been hampered by a series of niggling injuries and he is still feeling his way back into the game after undergoing ankle surgery.
