  • 28.9% (1,196,620) have occasionally taken part (+0.5% of national average)
  • 49.2% (2,038,701) have not taken part in active recreation (-1.4% of national average)

  • Along with the North East, the South West has the highest percentage of black and ethnic minorities exercising regularly in England (21.4%).
  • West Devon is the most active local authority on the mainland with 26.2% of people engaged in regular exercise, while Plymouth was the least active with 18.6%. The Isles of Scilly are the most active in England with 32% of adults exercising regularly.
