Steven Schumacher gave an honest assessment of his side’s narrow win over Leyton Orient in the press room here at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

“We’ve played better and not won,” he said.

The points for Bolton were sealed by Mason Burstow, who ended a 20-game goal drought by scoring Bolton’s first league penalty of the season.

    “He’s always practicing,” added Schumacher.

Bolton will be thrilled to have navigated a stern test posed by Leyton Orient, who were unfortunate not to take a point.

  3. Bromley sit comfortable leading competitive top sevenpublished at 17:31 GMT 24 January

    League Two table

Bromley's late win over Swindon Town allows them to comfortably maintain their position in top spot, with a six-point gap to Salford City below them.

Swindon started the day in second but because of how tight it is up there, after defeat they drop all the way to sixth in the table.

A win for Notts County moves them into the top seven, ten points below Bromley.

Newport County moved off the bottom spot today with a 2-1 win over play-off chasing Chesterfield and after defeat to Salford, Bristol Rovers drop to one place and one point above the relegation zone.

There's not a lot of room for error at the top and the bottom - which is just how we like it!

  4. Tight at the top as bottom sides strugglepublished at 17:20 GMT 24 January

    League One table

Cardiff City's early draw does the job to put them one point out of striking distance against second placed Lincoln City.

But down in the top six, things couldn't get any tighter. Three teams now sit on 46 points, with Bolton taking the third place spot on goal difference, while Huddersfield retain their place with a huge derby win for new boss Liam Manning.

Down in the other end, things aren't looking so bright for Northampton or Doncaster. The Cobblers failed to beat the Tangerines, who rise to 17th, to stay in the bottom four while Rovers squander a three goal lead against Wigan to put them three points away from safety with six goals to make up for on 20th placed Burton.

Meanwhile Port Vale's hope of avoiding relegation get dimmer after a loss to Exeter leaves them in 12 points behind safety.

  5. 'Disappointed with Swindon'published at 17:05 GMT 24 January

    FT: Bromley 2-1 Swindon

    Phil Smith
Former Swindon Town goalkeeper on BBC Radio Wiltshire Sport

Swindon had the better of the first half and we were completely in control. That all changed in the second half, especially because Bromley were so fired up.

For me the turning point was after Swindon made their substitutions, when they just seemed to lack any kind of energy. Bromley grew into the game and you could just tell what was coming.

I'm disappointed with Swindon, but it wasn't even a bad performance, it just wasn't the result we wanted.

  6. FULL-TIMEpublished at 17:02 GMT 24 January

    Bolton 2-1 Leyton Orient

A late penalty means Leyton Orient's losing streak at the Toughsheet extends to a ninth successive game. Ouch.

A quiet first half contrasted a much more exciting second, with Thierry Gale opening the scoring within the first minute following the conclusion of half time.

Orient pulled it back just three minutes later thanks to skipper Theo Archibald and held strong. At least, until the very end.

Azeem Abdulai's handball handed Bolton a big opportunity and Mason Burstow took it from the spot to score the winner. A victory that leaves the Trotters in third, by the way.

  7. FULL-TIMEpublished at 17:01 GMT 24 January

    Bromley 2-1 Swindon Town

    Bromley take the points!

But they had to work for them, coming from behind after conceding in the tenth minute.

After going into the break behind, the Ravens had the perfect start to the second half as they equalised before scoring the winner with one minute of normal time remaining.

Taking a look at the table Bromley now have a six point gap to Salford City in second, Swindon have dropped all the way down to sixth after today's defeat.

  8. 'A game of little to no opportunity'published at 17:01 GMT 24 January

    FT: Walsall 0-0 Accrington

    Marc Webber
BBC Final Score commentator at Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium

When the fans start shouting shoot at you 70 minutes in and you’re standing on the halfway line, you know it’s been a poor game with little hope.

Apart from Daniel Kanu hitting the post with a header, it has been a game of little to no opportunity.

  9. League Two round-uppublished at 17:01 GMT 24 January

A couple of big wins for teams looking to break into the top three and keep the pressure on the likes of Salford, as MK Dons thrashed Shrewsbury 5-1 and Cambridge came from behind to beat Tranmere 4-2.

Big wins at the bottom for Newport at home to Chesterfield and Crawley away at Barrow, but fellow strugglers Harrogate went down 3-0 to Gillingham.

There were wins for Colchester - 2-1 at home to Fleetwood, and Grimsby - 2-0 away at Cheltenham, while Walsall were held to 0-0 draw by Accrington.

  10. League One round-uppublished at 17:00 GMT 24 January

Mansfield looked on course for a big win away at Stevenage, but a late Chem Campbell equaliser denied Nigel Clough's side a fifth straight win.

Peterborough edged closer to the top six with a 2-0 win away at Wycombe, who lost at home for just the second time in 12 games.

An incredible comeback from Wigan saw them snatch a point from 3-0 down away at Doncaster, and there was an important win for Rotherham - their first in nine games - against Wimbledon.

Another defeat for Port Vale, this time at home to Exeter. Reading and Barnsley shared the spoils in Berkshire with 2-2 draw.

  11. 'Excellent Blackpool performance'published at 17:00 GMT 24 January

    FT: Blackpool 2-0 Northampton

    Steve Thompson
Former Blackpool assistant manager on BBC Radio Lancashire

That's an excellent performance from Blackpool, and a clean sheet, too.

The substitutions were made at the right time and Northampton were limited to set-pieces and long throws, and they weren't a threat.

The new signings were great and I have no doubt they will get better.

  12. 'Swindon have lacked energy'published at 16:57 GMT 24 January

    Bromley 2-1 Swindon

    Phil Smith
Former Swindon Town goalkeeper on BBC Radio Wiltshire Sport

On reflection, since Swindon made the changes the players seem to have lacked the same energy they had earlier in the match, for some reason.

Injury time seems to be the only time Swindon have actually started playing.

  13. Postpublished at 16:57 GMT 24 January

    Bromley 2-1 Swindon Town

Bromley come close to scoring a third but Nicke Kabamba is denied by Swindon keeper Connor Ripley.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:54 GMT 24 January

    Salford 1-0 Bristol Rovers

Salford City take all three points.

The Ammies move to 10 games unbeaten thanks to Ryan Graydon's first half strike.

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:54 GMT 24 January

    Blackpool 2-0 Northampton

Ashley Fletcher's penalty seals a 2-0 victory for Blackpool to end their miserable losing run.

The Tangerines hadn't won their past three league games but Terry Taylor took Fletcher down to concede the penalty and the forward converted to take the game out of Northampton's reach.

It means the Cobblers will end the weekend in the bottom four while Blackpool rise to 17th, three points clear.

  17. goal

    Nicke Kabamba (89 mins)

    Bromley are ahead late on!

Nicke Kabamba heads the ball home with one minute of normal time to go after Idris Odutayo's cross into the box.

We will play eight minutes of added time!

  18. goal

GOAL Doncaster 3-3 Wiganpublished at 16:51 GMT 24 January

    Owen Moxon (89 mins)

What a comeback for Wigan at Doncaster! From 3-0 down, Ryan Lowe's side are level thanks to Owen Moxon.

Not what Rovers, who fall back to three points from safety, needed.

  19. PENALTY TO BOLTONpublished at 16:50 GMT 24 January

    Bolton 1-1 Leyton Orient

    This could be it.

Azeem Abdulai gets punished for a handball in the box and substitute Mason Burstow has the opportunity to be the match hero...
