Oh Yes We Did - On No We Didn't - Oh Yes We Did

Well, we did actually do it!! We put on our panto on Friday & Saturday. They said that it couldn't be done. Mind you, they said the same about the Titanic.

Astro nebula has already shown what (s)he looks like/ And very fetching too - his/her dance to Queen's "I Want to Break Free" and strip-tease were new highs in entertainment.

The cast consisted of RAF personnel, local teachers & pupils - & even (whisper it) someone from Yell. Evil Twinny & Ruthodanort's daughter were also in the cast. Most of us - including myself - had never been on stage before. It's good to know that the defence of our country & the education of our children are in such safe hands.

It had everything - a jousting tournament, a fire-breathing dragon, ghouls, songs & dances. Who needs the West End or Broadway?

We played to 2 packed houses & the comments afterwards were highly favourable. Even folks who'd come along expecting it to be rubbish came away having thoroughly enjoyed it.

Out came champagne at the end. We wre all high. I for one would do it again (Herman - what do you mean I'm a big ham anyway)

A sudden gust of wind took off with my net curtains from the washing line...and Lo and behold, I see the lovely Miss Unst 2006 wearing them! I dont need them back as my curtains dont usually have sleeves. Panto looked Fab. Only recently discovered Island Blogging, and I`m a daily visitor now, to see what the latest shenanigans are....keep up the good work

Dear Jean Someone from the Northern Isles in a recent posting mentioned a pair of curtains for £300 on ebay. Maybe you could get a lottery grant from them from Arnish Lighthouse's healthcare postal lottery on Lewis? I don't know what the criterion is but I know there's abar in Stornoway called the Criterion if that's any help. I was at a wedding at the Regent Hotel in Oban last Autumn - the place was like Fawlty Towers. By the way - no need to post twice we're not deaf in Lewis.

Hi Far North. Have you noticed how, if you use apostrophes in the captions in the gallery the software treats the apostrophes the end of the caption. It's a pain isn't it?

Love this Island Blogging Site

Cis from East Lothian

Well done! I'd love to see my niece acting. Is there a video of the panto? If anyone has one can you give Ruthodanort a copy for her to keep so I can watch it when we meet up again (next summer in Unst hopefully).

Rachondarox from Lancs

did you get the rings? check the Whalsay Site

bonniebairn from whalsay

To bonniebairn of Whalsay. Yes, we got the rings - mission accomplished!! Herman - as well as consort & I were very excited.

Far North from Unst

Sadly, no-one taped all of the panto. Rumour has it that there are snippits that were taped on various digital cameras. Although if anyone knows of an entire video.......

Jean from Oman w/o curtains: Check Roeberry's blog. She has all the info. on how to get replacement curtains for 300 pounds sterling plus (for used ones) on ebay. You folks must have gold mines in those northern isles. And I am not talking about the golden color of Highland whisky. Yeah, I would have loved to see the panto live (or on tape). Someone should always take a DVD camera to those productions, for the record or/and to raise money later.
