Ruby has the gregarious wit expected of an Edwardian music hall singer, but also possesses an entrepreneurial streak in common with her deceased half-brother Archie.

Arriving in Folkestone to settle his affairs, her beautiful singing voice vivifies the Pleasure Gardens Theatre, in which she has inherited shares. It is here that savvy Ruby meets a particularly cagey Hilary, though the relationship they strike up is, of course, strictly business.

Ruby appears in Season 6 played by Martine McCutcheon and in Seasons 10 and 13 played by Katie Redford.
