Tees Transporter Bridge, Middlesbrough

Musicians will be playing on the Transporter Bridge Gondola from 7am. Commencing with music from the 1910s each hour the musicians will play music from the next decade as they move forward in time. There will be a full day of musical entertainment at the bridge for BBC Music Day.
The Tees Transporter Bridge was opened in 1911 to connect the village of Port Clarence on the north bank of the Tees with Middlesbrough town centre. Rather than travelling over the top of the bridge, traffic and pedestrians are carried by a specially designed gondola, which travels just a few metres above the surface of the river.

Gateshead Millennium Bridge
With BBC Newcastle

North Tyneside’s Youth Steel Band will perform on Gateshead Millennium Bridge for BBC Newcastle.
Designed by architect Keith Brownlie the award-winning bridge opened in 2001. It links Gateshead and Newcastle at the vibrant, popular Quayside area. It is also known as the Blinking Eye Bridge due to the way it opens.

Prebends Bridge, Durham
With BBC Newcastle

Chloe Castro will perform on the bridge for BBC Newcastle. The community choir, Voices of Recovery, made up of people recovering from addiction problems, will also be performing.
Prebends Bridge was built in the late 18th Century. The bridge boasts stunning views of Durham Cathedral and the riverbanks.

Union Chain Bridge, Berwick on Tweed
With BBC Newcastle

A Borders piper and a Northumbrian piper will begin playing on opposite sides of the bridge before meeting in the middle. The meeting of the pipers will be broadcast live on BBC Newcastle.
The Union Chain Bridge unites England and Scotland over the River Tweed. Designed by Sir Samuel Brown, it was built in 1820. The bridge spans 129 metres, connecting Horncliffe in Northumberland and Fishwick in Borders.
