'Nigeria security systement dey weak' - Expert tok

One security expert, Dr Buhari Ubandawaki, tell BBC News Pidgin say di recent violent attacks wey happun for Nigeria witin one week show clearly say di kontri security system dey weak and overstretched.

Dr Ubandawaki tok dis one as im react to three major incidents: di killing of one Army General for Borno, di kidnapping of 25 schoolgirls for Kebbi, and di attack wey gunmen do for one church for Kwara wey lead to deaths and kidnapping.

According to am, di way di attacks take happun dey show say terrorist groups wan prove say dem get power pass govment.

"From wetin we see for oda kontris wey dey face similar wahala, terrorists dey always increase attacks when dem sense say di kontri dey weak or wen external pressure dey. Dem wan show say na dem dey control, no be government," e tok.

Dr Ubandawaki identify many reasons wey dey cause insecurity for northern Nigeria. E tok say one big problem be di large ungoverned areas wey nobodi dey in charge, and na dat kind place terrorists dey use hide, plan and execute attacks.

"Plenty areas for northern Nigeria no get any authority wey dey control am. Dat one dey give terrorists chance to settle, plan attack and go hide later," e add.

E still tok say many state govments never put serious effort to fight insecurity, and communities just dey rely only on govnment to protect dem.

E add say porous borders dey allow illegal guns dey enter Nigeria, and di kontri never still identify or punish di sponsors of terrorism.

Di expert tok say Nigeria neva apply di three important security layers wey suppose help stop insecurity.

E say "di first layer na community level, wia every community suppose set up dia first line of defence."

"Di second layer na state level, wia state govments suppose work togeda wit communities and federal security agencies.

Di third layer na federal level, wia better recruitment, correct deployment and enof weapons suppose dey in place, plus better defence budget." Im tok

"Federal govment need to recruit more people and equip dem well to fit fight terrorists," e add.

E advise say govnors for di affected states suppose work togeda instead of evribodi dey run dia state individually.

"Govnors gatz to come togeda develop cross-border plan to fight terrorism," e add.

Dr Ubandawaki tok say state govments suppose put more money for community security groups, and federal govment suppose make sure say all ungoverned land dey under govment control.

"Govment need to take over those lands again. Dis one go require better surveillance and modern technology," e tok.
