Diary entry 18: On the road again "Well after some sad goodbyes with work mates in Cairns I set off down the east coast of Australia to experience the most populated part of Oz." Diary entry 17: Leaping into a 23rd birthday Just how should you celebrate your 23rd birthday whilst travelling in Australia? With a skydive of course! After checking her life insurance policy, Claire looks forward to leaping through that plane door. Diary entry 16: A burnt wrist and a swallowed bank card After a rogue pot noodle scalded her wrist and an ATM swallowed her card, Claire desperately hopes that it's not true what they say about bad things happening in threes...
Diary entry 15: Tasmania: Whitby and Wales combination Claire finds Tasmania is like a combination of Whitby and Wales - even down to its fish & chips and its chocolate factory! Diary entry 14: Parading penguins and kipping koalas Claire's Australian adventure continues with a parade of penguins and a kipping koala bear. Diary entry 13: The joys of tennis - Melbourne style Claire moves on to Melbourne, where she sees some big names on the tennis court and notices how much more relaxed the Australian crowd are than we Brits.
Diary entry 12: No-one saw it coming "I found out that on Christmas Eve a friend, who I used to work with, was in Thailand and went out on a Christmas cruise and hadn't been seen since." Diary entry 11: A sombre start to 2005 As Claire prepared to welcome 2005 in the style that only Sydney can manage the enormity of the tsunami disaster made itself felt. Diary entry 10: It's Christmas Christmas, it seems, just isn't the same in Queensland and as the decorations go up, or don't as is the case, Claire realizes she's missing home. Diary entry 9: Sport... Aussie style Still employed as a bus driver, (despite bumping the bus) Claire has discovered the Aussies passion for all sports. Diary entry 8: I'm going to Queensland Claire has moved on to Cairns and a change of career. There she promptly locks herself out of her room. Diary entry 7: Alice Springs & Uluru Claire visits Alice Springs and Uluru, two of the must-see sights in Australia. Diary entry 6: Crocodiles Claire gets close and personal with some fierce looking crocodiles in the Kakadu National Park. Diary entry 5: Melons Claire turns her hand to fruit picking - unfortunately she didn't choose the easiest of fruit to start with. Diary entry 4: Left cold in Sydney Claire arrives in Sydney to find it even colder than good old blightly - perhaps all those T-shirts may not be sufficient. Diary entry 3: Images of Bangkok No words this time, but plenty of pictures from Bangkok. Diary entry 2: Leaving on a jet plane Claire says goodbye to her family (tricky) and finally gets underway, arriving in Thailand for a good dose of culture shock...
