So now to the West Coast of Australia, it's nowhere near as populated as the East Coast but is supposed to be a lot more beautiful. Less of the sky scrapers, and more of the amazing views. So when I arrived I was expecting a nice chill out before moving on to New Zealand. What I found was a very quiet state, with very few back packers and not much of a tourist trade. It was a welcome change to the hustle and bustle of the East Coast but was lacking in what made the rest of the country so appealing. Of course there were the amazing beaches, awesome sand dunes and mildly mystical Pinnacles but it seamed to lack that kind of Aussie attitude I've come to expect. There weren't any sideways remarks about the number of Pom's "taking over" or the usual banter about the Aussie's superior rugby skills. Instead, everyone just sort of went about their own business, not too fussed that you were there to see their country and it would take you a day to fly home if you so desired! In a way it was nice and refreshing just to be accepted. But in a way you kind of wanted someone to say ''Hey you're from Yorkshire, you know my father's brother's son's wife lived in York when she was 5.'' But of course I just carried on with the day to day routine of "On your left you will see another nice beach, and on your right are some more amazing sand dunes and we will stop in half an hour so you can get another picture of a sunset framed by palm trees..." Don't get me wrong, I love playing at being a tourist, especially after driving a mini bus for months and having to get up at 5.55 for a 6am start! I know that many people don't get the chance to see half of what I have been lucky enough to get snaps of. But something makes me think that I'm becoming a little immune to being in a foreign land where you wake up every morning to white sand and blue sea. Or maybe I'm just missing Yorkshire?
