ኣብዚ መደብ’ዚ ዝተፈላለዩ ኣገላልጻ ኩነታት ኣየር ክንዛረብ ኢና። ናይ ሎሚ መደብና ድማ ብዛዕባ ኩነታት ኣየር ብዝዛረቡ ሰባት ክንፍልሞ ኢና። ንስኻትኩም ከኣ ካብቶም ተዛረብቲ ኣየናዮ’ም ሕጉስ ከምዘይኮነ ወስኑ።

ኣነ ንመኖም ከምዝወሰንኩ ይፈልጥ ኢየ። ንስኻትኩም’ከንመኖም ወሲንኩም?
ቅድሚ ብዛዕባ ኩነታት ኣየር ምዝራብና፡ ንሓደ ሰብ ከመይ ጌርና ኩነታት ኣየር ክንሓቶ ከምእንኽእል ንሕሰብ።

OK, so we ask the question like this: ‘What’s the weather like?’ And it just means ‘tell me about the weather today’. Let's practise the pronunciation. Listen again and repeat.

ስለዚ ስያን፣ ብዛዕባ ኩነታት ኣየር ኣብ እንዛረበሉ ግዜ እንጥቀመሎም ቃላት’ዶ ከነተኩር? We heard lots of adjectives - ቅጽላት - didn’t we?

Yes! So we have adjectives to describe the weather and these are made with the noun plus the letter ‘y’. Like, for ‘rain’ we can say ‘it's rainy today’.

እወ! ስለዚ፡ እቲ ስም ‘ዝናም’ ኢዩ፣ ‘rain’ ‘ዋይ’ ብምውሳኽ ከኣ ቅጽል ንገብሮ፣ ‘rainy’. ‘It’s rainy today’.
ሕጂ እምበኣር ቅጽል ናይ ደበና’ዶ ክንገብር ንኽእል - ‘cloud’ ከምኡ እውን ናይ ጸሓይ - ‘sun’? ቅኑዕ ምህላውኩምን ዘይምህላውኩምን ንምፍላጥ ደጊምና ንስምዓዮ።

ግርም፣ ስለዚ ነዞም ቅጽላት ናይ ሎሚ ኩነታት ኣየር ንምግላጽ- ወይ ከኣ ብሓፈሻ ኣብ ዓድኹም ብዘሎ ኩነታት ኣየር ንምዝራብ ክንጥቀመሎም ንኽእል። ብ ‘it is’ ክትጅምሩ ከምዘለኩም ኣይትረስዑ - ‘it’s cloudy, it’s rainy, it’s sunny’.

Great! ኣብ መወዳእታ ብዛዕባ ዋዒ ዝገልጹ መገድታት ሰሚዕና። So we have ‘ውዑይ’ ‘hot’ and ‘ዝሑል’ ‘cold’. ኣይ ውዑይ ኣይ ዝሑል ምስ ዝኸውን ብኸመይ ከምእንገልጾ ትዝክሩ’ዶ? ሓቢርና ንከታተል።

It's quite warm outside.

That's right – so ‘warm’ is comfortable – not hot and not cold. We can also say ‘it's cool’ which is closer to cold.

ስለዚ፣ በብተራ ካብ ውዑይ ናብ ዝሑል ብዛዕባ ዝዛረቡ ሓሳባት ንከታተል። Listen and practise the pronunciation:
