Yes, very nice! ਵਾਹ ਸੈਮ ਮੌਸਮ ਵਰਗੀ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ 'small talk' ਇਸੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੱਜ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਚਲੋ ਆਪਾਂ ਇਹਨਾਂ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਆਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਦੱਸ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਜਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਪੁੱਛ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ? 

1. Terrible weather, isn't it?
2. The buses are always so crowded, aren't they?
3. How's your day going?
4. Haven't seen you in a while! How are things?

ਹਾਂ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸਭ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕੁਝ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਵੀ ਸਧਾਰਨ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਮੌਸਮ ਬਾਰੇ, ਆਉਣ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਸਾਧਨਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਰਿਹਾ।

Let's start with the weather - a very common subject in English.

ਚਲੋ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੌਸਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਸੈਮ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਤਾਂ ਮੌਸਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਹੀ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

Ok, so we both started with an adjective: 'lovely' or 'terrible'.

ਹਾਂ 'lovely' ਅਤੇ 'terrible' ਜਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਚਾਹੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ 'day' ਜਾਂ 'weather' ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਲਗਾ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ। ਵਾਕ ਇਥੇ ਵੀ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ?

ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਬੱਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਭਰੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਬਾਰੇ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ।

Yes, here they used 'aren't they?' instead of 'isn't it?' because 'buses' are plural. So we use 'are' with 'buses' but with 'day' and 'weather' we use 'is'. Quick practice! Repeat after me:

The buses are always so crowded.

ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਦਿਨ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕੀ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ।

ਉਹ ਜਾਣਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਦਿਨ ਕਿਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਰਿਹਾ,ਇਹ ਇੱਕ ਆਮ ਜਿਹਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਹੈ। ਵਾਕ, ‘ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਦੇਰ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ?’,  ‘Haven't seen you in a while!’ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਨ ਸੁਣੋ।

Haven't seen you in a while! How are things?

They asked 'How are things?', which is similar to asking 'How is everything?' These are all quite informal ways of asking 'How are you?' and we use them with people we know a little bit, usually, not with people we don't know.

ਚਲੋ ਹੁਣ ਥੋੜ੍ਹਾ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ। ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਦੇ ਬੱਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਠੇ ਹੋਵੋ ਤੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਅਣਜਾਣ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਨੀ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਕੀ ਕਰੋਗੇ। ਉਸਨੂੰ ਮੌਸਮ ਬਾਰੇ ਪੁੱਛੋ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ਣ 'lovely' ਲਗਾ ਲੈਣਾ, ਤੇ ਕਹੋ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਚੈੱਕ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸੈਮ ਦਾ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੁਣ ਲੈਣਾ।
