ఇవాల్టి ఎపిసోడ్‌లో 'there is', ' there are' ఈ రెండిటినీ ఎప్పుడు ఎలా ఉపయోగించాలో తెలుసుకుందాం. Lewis వాళ్ల ఫ్రిడ్జిలో ఏమేమున్నాయో చెప్తున్నాడు. విందాం. అతను చెప్పిన వస్తువులతో ఇవాళ భోజనానికి ఏ పదార్థాలు తయారుచెయ్యొచ్చో చూద్దాం.

There's a pepper and there's an onion. There's some cheese but there isn't any milk. There are some eggs and some tomatoes, but there aren't any carrots. 

సౌమ్య
So, a pepper – మిరపకాయ, an onion - ఒక ఉల్లిపాయ, some cheese - కొంచం ఛీజ్, some eggs - కొన్ని గుడ్లు and tomatoes – టమాటాలు ఉన్నాయట. 

Sam
Mmmmh, maybe an omelette? What do you think?

Yes! Omelette- కోడిగుడ్డు అట్టు వెయ్యొచ్చు. తన దగ్గర ఏమున్నాయో, ఏమి లేవో చెప్పడానికి Lewis వాడిన పదబంధాలను మరొకసారి విందాం.

There's a pepper and there's an onion.

విన్నారా? లూయిస్ 'there's' అన్నారు. అంటే అక్కడ ఉంది అని అర్థం. ఏకవచనం, లెక్కించదగ్గ నామవాచకాలకు 'there's' అని వాడాలి. ఇక్కడ 'there', 'is' కలిపి 'there's' అవుతుంది. పలుతున్నప్పుడు ఒక పదం లాగే వినిపిస్తుంది.

Yes, so let's practise this together. Please repeat after me: 

‘There's…’

‘There's a…’ 

‘There's a pepper’.

‘There's an onion’.

Great! Lewis చెప్పిన రెండో వాక్యం విందాం. 

There's some cheese but there isn't any milk. 

సౌమ్య
ఇక్కడ 'there's' అనే వాడారు. కానీ చీజ్ ముందు 'some' అన్నారు. Uncountable nouns -లెక్కించలేని నామవాచకాలకు 'some' అని వాడాలి. 

Sam
So we can't say 'a', like with 'a pepper' or 'an onion', and when you pronounce 'some' you usually say it very quickly. Let's practise together – repeat after me.

‘some’ 

‘some cheese’ 

‘There’s some cheese’.

తరువాత 'there isn’t any milk' - ఫ్రిడ్జిలో పాలు లేవు అన్నారు. ‘Milk’ అనేది uncountable noun కాబట్టి 'isn't అని వాడాలి. ఇక్కడ కూడా 'is’, not' కలిపి 'isn't అవుతుంది. అస్సలు లేవు కాబట్టి 'any' అని వాడాలి.

Exactly! Let's practise that – repeat after me: 

‘There isn't…’ 

‘There isn't any…’ 

‘There isn't any milk’.

చివరి వాక్యంలో ఏకవచనం వాడారా? బహువచనమా?

There are some eggs and some tomatoes, but there aren't any carrots. 

సౌమ్య
గమనించారా? 'Eggs', 'tomatoes' and 'carrots'... ఇవన్నీ బహువచనాలు, లెక్కించగలిగేవి కాబట్టి గ్రామర్ మారుతుంది. 

Sam
Yes, we change 'is' to 'are', but we still use ‘some' and 'any'. Let's practise: 

‘There are some eggs’. 

‘There are some tomatoes’.

‘There aren't any carrots’.

Did you say the same ? ఇప్పుడు మీ దగ్గర ఉల్లిపాయ   లు లేవు అని చెప్పాలి. ఉల్లిపాయలని లెక్కించొచ్చు. కాబట్టి 'there isn't any' అని వస్తుందా?  'there aren't any'?  అని వస్తుందా? Sam జవాబుతో కంపేర్ చేసుకోండి.

Did you say the same? Well done! మీ దగ్గర కొన్ని పాలు ఉన్నాయి. పాలని లెక్కించలేము కాబట్టి 'a' అని వాడాలా, 'some' అనాలా?

No, absolutely not! You can use them to talk about what's in your town or city, what's in your room, even what's in your bag! So practise today!
