Cluichí Teanga - Parent and Teacher Notes

The Talking Clock / An Clog Cainteach

The clock has movable hands and covers 12 hours. There are two activities in the clock interface:

•An Clog Cainteach / The Talking Clock

•Bog an Clog/ Move the Clock

An Clog Cainteach, or The Talking Clock, allows the learner to practise telling the time in Irish. In order to play the game, the learner must understand numbers and phrases such as 'quarter to' and 'twenty past'. The learner can move the hands of the clock to a time, then click the 'Play' button to hear the time spoken. They can use the 'Show Text Button' to display the text for that time.

Bog an Clog, or Move the Clock, allows the learner to test their knowledge of telling the time in Irish. To play the game, they must understand numbers and phrases, such as 'quarter to' and 'twenty past'. The learner should click 'Play' to listen to a time and set the clock to that time.
