Addy Van Der Borgh

The Demons of Addy Van Der Borgh

What is your show all about?

The show is about my battle with booze and my attempt to fill in the time that emerges after giving it up, and also about falling in love (with yourself and another…).

Where and when can we see it?

The Assembly Rooms at 10.15 pm (enjoy a drink or two in the bar beforehand).

Do you love Edinburgh or is it a chore?

By the third week you start to see comedians wandering around with that vacant look from having too many late nights and reading too many reviews. But as a whole the festival is very rewarding, especially when it's over.

What will you be doing with the other 23 hrs of the day?

Writing a show I'm filming in the autumn, popping into AA, watching telly, eating pasta and talking about going to the gym.

What's the best thing you've ever seen on the fringe?

How the Pleasance managed to turn a toilet area into another comedy room.

What's the worst thing you've seen?

The toilets at the Pleasance.

What's the most curious thing that's happened to you in Edinburgh?

Sharing a flat with four other comedians and staying relatively sane.

If you could persuade one VIP to come to your show who would it be? Why?

Jack Nicholson to see what he thought of my Jack Nicholson impression (the only one I can do well, and which I have managed to squeeze into the show).

If the Edinburgh fairy could grant your wish, what would your wish for?

A lovely audience every night and Jack Nicholson heckling, "It sounds nothing like me."

What advice do you have for first time Edinburgh punters?

Come and see my show, obviously, and don't rush the drinking... you have all night (and the morning).
