Czechoslovakia is completely landlocked. Its capital Prague is in the west and is the country’s most popular holiday destination.
Around 7 millions tourists visit Prague every year, often for weekend city breaks. It is a beautiful city, nicknamed ‘The city of a hundred towers’, due to the vast number of spires on the skyline.

Russia endues bitterly cold harsh winters and warm summers. Czechoslovakia’s climate is less extreme, mixing in some of the wetter characteristics of western Europe.
However it is not nearly as damp as Western Europe; Prague’s wettest month is July but only receives half the rainfall that Bristol gets in it’s wettest month of November.The weather in Prague is varies greatly from one day to the next. Only in winter are there long spells of settled weather and this is when the temperatures drop to their lowest.
The average temperature in February is a very chilly minus 12, but it once did drop to as low as minus 28 degrees (minus 18 Fahrenheit.). Prague’s popularity stems from the beauty of the city combined with the low prices relative to the rest of Europe. The prices seem to increase this year, as do the number of tourists.
The huge influx of visitors can be too much, so the best times to visit Prague is early spring or late autumn, to avoid the rush. |
