Sources and origins
Metals are found in ore-bearing rocks that form a part of the Earth’s crustThe outer layer of the Earth on top of the mantle.. Ore-bearing rocks will contain one or more types of metal that can be processed to separate the metal from the waste material. They vary from country to country:
- USA, Russia and Sweden extract iron ore
- China is the main supplier of steel, which is processed from iron ore
