There was/there were
Es gibt (present tense) means 'there is' or 'there are'. It is almost always used in the imperfect tense rather than the perfect tense.
The imperfect form of es gibt is es gab. It means 'there was' or 'there were'.
- Als meine Mutter jünger war, gab es einen Freibad im Dorf. – When my mother was younger, there was an outdoor pool in the village.
- Es gab gestern Abend viele Leute auf der Party. – There were lots of people at the party last night.

She was born in Innsbruck and had several siblings – a twin sister and three brothers. She was ten minutes older than her sister. Clara's family come from Austria, but she lived in Koblenz, Germany from 2013.
She was a former student of Vienna University. She studied Music there.
She was married to the actor Aslan Erkoç. Aslan comes from Turkey. The married couple travelled to Turkey every summer. They had one child – Boris Melek. Boris goes to a music school and also plays the piano. His mother was a teacher at the music school.
Clara Erkoç was very famous because she was able to play so many concerts in one year. Sometimes, she played up to 200 concerts per year.
She loved reading and wrote at least one book and one sonata every year.
Clara Erkoç became ill on March 1st and died on the 3rd March.

The 1960s and 1970s marked a large-scale influx of Turkish citizens to Germany. At that time, there was a severe labour shortage in West Germany, so the government invited Turkish workers to fill this gap by offering them manual labouring jobs.
