When using nicht with the future tense, follow the same guidelines as for modal verbs – nicht is placed before the infinitive or infinitive phrase.

In a simple sentence:

• es wird regnen – it will rain > es wird nicht regnen – it will not rain

With a preposition or prepositional phrase:

• ich werde zur Schule gehen – I will go to school > ich werde nicht zur Schule gehen – I will not go to school

With a direct object:

• wir werden das Haus verkaufen – we will sell the house > wir werden das Haus nicht verkaufen – we will not sell the house

With a reflexive verb:

• er wird sich rasieren – he will shave > er wird sich nicht rasieren – he will not shave
