This paper comes as one booklet with questions and spaces for your answers.
If you need to change an answer or need more space then use the blank pages at the back of the exam paper. If you do this, make sure you label your answers clearly with the question number.
Where you need to complete a diagram or graph there is an additional diagram or graph at the end of the paper if you need to change your answer.
Most marks in the exam are for demonstrating knowledge and understanding and applying it, the rest are for inquiry and analysis skills.
What skills are being examined?
The skills you will be examined on are:
- making accurate statements and explanations – this examines your knowledge and understanding of concepts
- applying knowledge to new situations – this examines your ability to apply your knowledge and understanding of concepts to contexts you have not met before
- planning/designing experiments – this examines your ability to plan or design and experiment for a specific purpose or from a description
- evaluating experiments – this examines your ability to evaluate the design of an experiment
- selecting information – this examines your ability to select information from a table/graph/data booklet
- presenting information – this examines your ability to correctly present information e.g. tables, graphs
- processing – processing questions involve calculations and correct units
- predicting and making generalisations – this examines your ability to examine data and make a prediction about a missing value, continue or describe a trend
- conclusions - this examines your ability to draw conclusions from experimental data
