The Higher Chemistry assignment involves carrying out an experiment, comparing it to related research from literature or the internet and compiling this into a report.
This assignment is worth 20 marks. This is scaled to 30 marks and represents 20% of the overall marks for the course assessment.
Your teacher or lecturer will let you know if there are any specific conditions for doing this assessment and tell you how the assignment will be carried out.
Your assignment has two stages:
research
investigate a topic in chemistry
gather data/information from an experiment related to the topic
gather data/information from internet/literature sources
report - produce a report based on your research
There is a recommended class time of no more than eight hours for the whole assignment; including a maximum time of two hours for the report stage.
Your teacher or lecturer will not mark your report at any point. It is sent to SQA for marking.
