| | Were you a nurse, marshall, factory worker, evacuee or conscientious objector? Were you posted abroad? Were you a soldier from the Commonwealth or the US? What were your experiences? Where were you when Neville Chamberlain declared Britain would be going to war? How did you first hear about the D-day landings? Whatever you remember, we'd like to hear from you.
The BBC is building a unique archive of World War 2 stories. It'll be an online collection of people's memories about the war years. We also expect the archive to help younger and future generations have a better understanding of what it would have been like to live through the war.
If you'd like to take part why not register and come along to special sessions around Berkshire where you'll be able to enter your stories onto the archive:-
When | Where | | Tues 1 June | Newbury - IT now centre, The Quadrant, Pembroke Road | | Wed 2 June | Reading - Age Concern Berkshire, St Andrews House, Wilton Road | | Thur 3 June | Basingstoke - Chineham Learning Centre | | Fri 4 June | Reading Adult and Community College AND Tadley learning Centre, Stacey's Yard, off Silchester Road |
There'll be IT tutors, typists and listeners at hand to help you in whichever way appropriate.
If you'd like to get involved, give the BBC Radio Berkshire Action desk a call on 0118 948 6464. |
