Heavy snow meant problems for Grampian's motorists
Heavy snow has caused problems on Grampian's roads and closed many of the region's schools.

Police reported a spate of more than 20 accidents in difficult driving conditions after a night of wintry weather continued into Tuesday.

There were 26 schools closed or partially closed in Aberdeenshire.

Forecasters said Aberdeenshire and Moray would face the brunt of the bad weather with significant snow, and winds expected to reach gale force.

The A939 Cockbridge to Tomintoul road was closed due to the substantial snow fall overnight.

There had been 22 reports of road collisions in Grampian by just before 0800 GMT and there were also reports of cars getting stuck.

Grampian Police reminded motorists to take their time travelling in the conditions.
