Snow closes schools in north east
Traffic in Aberdeen snow
More snow closed schools and affected traffic
A night of snow has closed dozens of schools in Aberdeenshire and affected roads throughout Grampian.

A total of 56 schools were closed in Aberdeenshire and roads in the region were badly hit by snow and ice, although none were closed.

Heavy snow began to fall in Aberdeen city centre during rush hour.

Grampian Police reiterated the message for drivers to take extra care as the wintry weather in the area continued for a fourth day.

The A96 dual carriageway at the Tyrebagger, the B979 Westhill to Clinterty road and the B974 Cairn o'Mount road were among the worst affected.

Police said drivers should allow extra time for journeys, and take the time to clear snow and ice from all windows, mirrors and lights before setting off.
