Community support for the bid is important to the decision-makers |
A campaign to bring the 2014 Commonwealth Games to Scotland has the backing of more than 1.5 million people, organisers have announced. Supporters from around Scotland and around the world have logged onto the 2014 bid website to register their support for Glasgow hosting the games.
Glasgow 2014 bid director Derek Casey said the strength of support had been nothing short of remarkable.
The final decision on the 2014 host city will be made on 9 November, 2007.
Organisers said being able to demonstrate public backing was vital.
The Commonwealth Games Evaluation Commission will visit Scotland in early summer 2007.
"They will want to know how much we want to stage the games," Mr Casey said.
"That is why we must build on this magnificent number.
"If we speak with one voice then we can win these games for our country."
