Four firms have signed up to back Scotland's bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The Clydesdale Bank, First Group, Highland Spring and O2 will make more than �1m in cash, goods and marketing support available.
The companies have been designated "major supporters" rather than sponsors and will have exclusive access to the Glasgow 2014 brand.
First Minister Jack McConnell said they had invested in Scotland's future.
He said: "Some of our biggest companies have shown their faith in the bid.
"They know that winning will provide a boost to the economy but they know that it will do more.
"It will inspire our young people, it will show the world what kind of country Scotland is becoming."
The companies are now allowed to use the brand to promote the bid to their customers and throughout Scotland.
Steve Reid, head of retail banking at Clydesdale Bank, said: "With Glasgow at the heart of our business, Clydesdale Bank was delighted to be the first corporate supporter of the city's bid."
Steven Purcell, leader of Glasgow City Council, said: "Having companies with such a prominent national and international profile as part of our bid highlights the massive prize that awaits us if we win the 2014 Games."
