Mistakes: now seen as learning situations
Plans for a complaints phone line for the customers of Guernsey Post have been put on hold.

The Postal Sub Committee's requests for the provision of a free phone 0800 complaint line are being delayed for two months, while it gives Guernsey Post a chance to implement some of its proposals.

Following a meeting with Guernsey Post's Managing Director, Mike Hall, the Postal Sub Committee says it is satisfied postal problems and complaints are being dealt with effectively.

They say the whole delivery process of mail has been re-examined from the postal routes, to the elastic bands around letters.

Learning situations

Consumer Group Postal Sub Committee Chairman, Stephen John, says there is an improvement in the level of trust between the management and staff.

He said a culture has developed of seeing mistakes as learning situations.

He also said that postmen who left Guernsey Post are now coming back and their experience is "invaluable".
