Events between 1944-1953
• D Day in 1944, V.E. Day is celebrated in 1945 to mark the end of WW2 in Europe.

• Coinciding with the end of WW2, the United Nations is set up in 1945 to pursue goals of global peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance.

• Post-war scientific discoveries include the formulation of the Big Bang theory in 1948 and the discovery of DNA in 1953

• Colour television was invented in 1951.

• Just in time for the coronation of Elizabeth II, who at the age of 25, is crowned Queen in 1952.
