The South African went round in a six-under par 65 to put himself in contention for a first title in more than five years. Australian Peter Lonard, Japan's Shigeki Maruyama and Americans Scott Gump and Hank Kuehne lie one shot off the lead.
"It's hard coming back the second round. You want to stay in touch with the field. It's nice coming out shooting 65 this morning." Frost was one of the early starters and birdied three of the first four holes, before gaining further strokes at the 12th, 16th and 18th. Lonard is attempting to make his 20th consecutive cut in his rookie season on the US Tour. "I had my chances to go lower and just read some putts wrong," said the Australian. "I missed three or four putts inside six feet and in this sort of competition you can't really leave them out there everyday, so I am hoping tomorrow that the holes are looking a little bit bigger."
