Baggies land Marshall
Lee Marshall has finally joined West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion have signed Leicester City midfield man Lee Marshall in a 700,000 deal.

Marshall, 23, has signed a three-year contract and is in line to make his Baggies debut in Saturday's Premiership opener at Manchester United.

The move for Marshall initially collapsed in July when he was unable to agree personal terms.

But the deal has been revived and Albion manager Gary Megson told the club's official website: "The negotiating process has taken a little longer than anticipated but we're delighted to have got him.

"Lee was highly sought after when he was at Norwich. But his time at Leicester probably hasn't gone as well as he or Leicester would have hoped.

"They changed their manager twice, he was played in a variety of positions, and his game may have suffered.

"But now we are giving him a chance to re-establish the momentum he had at Norwich. It's another opportunity for Lee to play at the level he wants to."

The deal makes up in part for Megson's disappointment at missing out on Ipswich defender Hermann Hreidarsson, who rejected a move to the Premiership newcomers after the clubs had agreed an undisclosed fee.
